Why you'll love The Moulin Rouge

When it opened in the late 1800’s, it was called “The Temple of Women”. People from all economical backgrounds came to see the beautiful young women dance in colorful costumes. Today, it is the most visited theatrical event in Paris.

Done very elegantly and not vulgar at all, it is a full show with acrobats, comedians, singers, and of course, the French Cancan!

Whether you choose to actually go see the evening shows or just stand outside the continuously rotating red mill, you will be tempted by what so many others have succumbed to: the beauty of the French “joie de vivre” (joy of living) !

Take Metro 2 to stop BLANCHE and use the only exit there is. The Moulin Rouge will be straight ahead on the right side of the street.

Shows are quite expensive (€140 - €170 for the dinner show at 7pm); but the later shows (one at 9pm and another at 11pm) are a little less expensive (€97 and €87 respectfully). Another option is sitting at the bar for €72.

If you do plan on going to any of the shows, know that there are no reserved spots so arrive half an hour before the dinner show and 45 minutes to an hour before the night shows for the best seats.

If you do go, you will be in the presence of much beauty, so you must dress for the occasion.

Ater the show, the men could have their needs catered to, while thier wives were offered free donkey rides. Donkey rides are now gone but the Moulin Rouge has not only become the Parisians’ favorite cabaret, it has become the world’s most popular evening show!
